In what grades, subjects, and courses are students assessed under the STAAR program?

STAAR assessments are administered for

• Grades 3–8 mathematics
• Grades 3–8 reading
• Grades 4 and 7 writing
• Grades 5 and 8 science
• Grade 8 social studies
• Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology, and U.S. History

Also, districts can choose to administer the optional STAAR Algebra II and English III end-ofcourse (EOC) assessments to their students.
